Interest and checkpoints open
A serious home for your next serial.
Katha Challenge is a structured home for original serial fiction: publish consistently, keep ownership of your work, and make the story easy to discover.
Registering interest and saving a checkpoint are free. Neither is an entry, and there is no payment, announced date, prize, or reserved place.
Register your story and save a manuscript checkpoint. Neither is an entry. Rules, fees, prizes and dates are published separately.
- Register a Katha story you own. The record is private and reversible.
- Publish the chapters in that story. Your original stays authoritative.
- Save a checkpoint from your dashboard if you want a provisional record. It is not an entry and is not judged, and later edits do not change it.
- Formal entry, if it opens, is a separate step with its own published terms. Writers under 18 need verified guardian consent for it.

How it works
Three steps, in order.
Publish your story
Create and maintain an original serial on Katha. Your story remains yours.
Register the story
Choose the serial you own. This saves a private, reversible record and does not enrol you in a programme.
Save a checkpoint
Freeze a provisional record of your chapters as they stand. It is not an entry and is not judged. If formal entry opens, you enter separately under the published rules.
AI assistance is declared in Katha Story Settings so the record stays with the work. The final eligibility and disclosure policy remains subject to review.
Eligibility
Who can enter.
Entrants under 18 need verified guardian consent to submit. Paid entry and prizes for under-18s are not available yet.
Full eligibility, judging and prize terms are kept versioned in the document centre.
Rules, judging & FAQ
Everything else lives in one place.
Full eligibility, fee and award status, the judging process, and frequently asked questions are kept versioned and current in the document centre — not duplicated here, so there is only one place that can go out of date.
